Economics is the most misunderstood of the sciences.
Perhaps because of the immense power the economist wields in the modern era of big government, the principles of economics have been abused and manipulated. To accurately portray economic truth to the public is self-defeating for those with political power, as they almost always work against the desire for increased government regulation. So, in order to serve immoral ends, the principles of economics have been pushed aside by deceitful and evil men. Unfortunately, these abuses have been codified even in textbooks.
But there is no place where economics is more abused than in popular media. Journalists, commentators, and politicians speak about economics every day. And more often than not, their views are mistaken.
It is our job to humbly correct those who make the grievous error of economic fallacy.
